- - - - overall personality,
ariel is innocent, as she was made to be. she was meant to be the only woman among the archangels, which changed later in time. but she was meant to be innocent and understanding, and at the beginning was named "ariel, the gentle". when she was named angel of nature, it was made clear her nature would be gentle and sweet. she stayed true to the way she was meant to be for the longest time. that was what lucifer saw in her in the beginning- her undying want to believe there was no evil, there never would be, and that everything was going to be the way it was made to be- paradise. it was also her downfall. she was always one to believe in the best, and through that was sucked into the glory that was lucifer. when he was cast from heaven, she almost wanted to go with him and save him, just because of the way she was. her innocence was what made her who she was, but it was also why micheal, her brother, the prince of light, was so ashamed of her. and the same reason it broke her heart when micheal almost cast her from heaven as well. her innocence was what saved her as well. and that is why she clings to it do this day. but as all archangels are meant to be, she is also very regal and thinks of herself as higly ranked. she knows right from wrong, obviously. and though she's not one to enforce it harshly, she does know the rules.
once lucifer fell from heaven and she was almost cast out with him, she changed a bit. she was still soft spoken and shy, but she was very opinionated and knew what she believed in. she started to resent all the rules she once stood by and became a bit rebellious, but not enough to get her cast from heaven. she would never come that close again. but the one person she used to look up to, her brother micheal, was the one person she started to hate the most. he was her worst enemy while still in heaven, and he was the one setting all her limits. he was ruthless and she vowed never to be like that. that is why she is so understanding and tries to be as fair as she can be.
there is a side of ariel that even she is ashamed of. it's the side of her that favors demons and is still connected with lucifer. there is something about them that appeals to her. perhaps it's their lack of rules, or perhaps it's the memory of lucifer and what he was like, and wishing she could be close to him again. maybe it's her trust in the fact that he could still be the angel he once was and needs sympathy to be able to show it. she's not sure, but she's almost fallen with them and wanted to be with them more then once...

fuck. not again. this had happened ten million times in the last two months. well, maybe not ten million, but close enough. she had tried to make dinner, just as caden had showed her, and she had cut her finger- again. her little brother was shaking his head in the background as harper sucked on her finger, trying to get the bleeding to stop. that was going absolutely nowhere at all. her first finger was bleeding profusely, and there was no stopping it. tyler brought her paper towels and she wrapped it around her finger. this was bad, and it wasn't as if she could heal herself. first off, she wasn't a healer. second, she couldn't use magic in front of her brother- just in case her brother wasn't a wizard. she wouldn't even find that out until he turned eleven. if he got a letter from hogwarts, then he was a wizard and she would be able to finally do magic around the house again. of course by then, she hoped that she was in an actual house, not her stupid apartment. as much as she loved her studio apartment in the frank flats, it was for a single harper. a harper who had nothing to worry about but herself. she had something else to worry about now. her little brother tyler was her world, and he came before every single other thing in her life. no matter what, she would always put him first- what he needed would come before what she needed. she was turning into a mom, but that was okay for her. if becoming a mom meant being there for tyler , then so be it. though she was still only his big sister, and there was only so much she could do, she still felt like she had to be the best mother she could, since his own sucked and hers was out of the picture. she owed the kid that much. there was still time to save him from becoming like harper- where her dad was the only thing in her life that went right. well, since he was gone, all ty had was her, his older sister. she had never been the best of role models. she had gotten into a ton of trouble in school, both at home (she would sneak out every other day when she was home, grounded or not) and at school (well, until her sixth year when she was made a prefect). and it wasn't like she was around that much. though that part was not by her doing, but her mother's, it still sucked. she only saw her brother over the summer or when her dad would come and see her on her birthday or christmas every few years. though after she was done with school, she had debated on going to college in the states to be closer to her dad and tyler, but decided to stay with lane in england and work for the prophet. though now that things had happened, she was wishing she had done that. if she went to new york for college, then lane wouldn't have died... and she could've had more time with her dad. and that was all she wanted. more time with her dad. more summers with him where they would fix his old impala together and listen to 90's music. more winter breaks when new york city looked like a whole other world, and her dad would take her to musicals. more of those little moments when he would bust out some random movie quote and they would just go back and forth for hours with them... she missed him like hell, and she missed lane as well. when she, her father and lane were together, things were at their best. her father liked lane, and lane loved her father. though it was funny, when penelope and lane were together, penelope seemed to like lane more then harper. he was a bit girlier then her, which was probably why they got along so well. she had always wondered what would've happened if she and lane got married- if things would be different, who would be closer to her after the marriage. she sighed. too many what if's. especially when she had bigger fish to fry.
her mind wasn't all there when she saw the blood coming from her finger, and the only thing on her mind was 'i need to get to mungo's' not 'i could go to a muggle hospital'. so she took tyler by the wrist and lead him out the door down to lily potter's apartment. knocking on the door, she shifted back and forth, hoping she would be home. when the door opened, she sighed of relief and explained to lily why she needed tyler to stay with her for a little bit- not long, just long enough for her to get to mungo's, get healed and be done with it. she promised to be back soon, told tyler to behave and apparated to the hospital. she hated hospitals. too many bad things happened in hospitals. she had been in a hospital when her great grandmother died, when her uncle had a heart attack, and the idea of her father in a hospital bed after his accident had always made her a bit squeamish. but she was just going to get in and get out. she had barely walked in when she hears something about one freya finnigan. she dropped the towel around her finger and ran over to find her room, not knowing where the girl was. she ran down all sorts of halls until she saw cam and tony. entering the room breathing heavily, harper bit down on her lip. her eyes flashed from cam to tony to freya and back to cam. what the bloody hell happened? she wasn't even sure. she stood next to freya with tony and cam and tried to keep her breathing even. this was bad. whatever happened was just plain bad. they had been through so much together. freya was there when harper had all of her melt downs, and when she ran away to her house, freya would let harper sleep in bed with her, listening to her until three in the morning until they both fell asleep. it was freya she had gone to when tony ended up with kalia, and when she had figured out she liked lane. at lane's funeral, she had been with tony and freya more then she was with anyone else. they were sisters. nothing would ever come between them- no one even got close to trying. she had been so happy to hear about freya being pregnant. and the fact that it was a girl? well, harper still had a chance to get to save her from being overly girly. apparently... not anymore.
there it was again, that urge to cry. harper had barely cried in her entire life. though recently, it had become more frequent then most times. she had cried sporadically over the eight months she had locked herself in her room after lane's death, and she had cried when she went to see his grave a few weeks back- and that was more then she had cried in a long time. but this... this was hell. she had never really seen her best friend tony cry, but it was hard. cam was trying to be strong, but it wasn't working. twitching slightly, harper looked around. "what the hell happened?!" she whispered harshly. she looked down at her friend and closed her eyes for a moment, forcing a tear out of her eyes. she coughed and held any more back. she wasn't letting herself cry. she had to be the strong one- she just had to be. if no one else was, she would be. nothing was more important then freya. stepping away from the bed for a moment, she called tyler from her cell phone, blessing alex in her head for buying him a new phone. she explained to him that she would be a little longer than expected and to tell lily sorry. she said that she would pay lily back somehow, and that if he ended up sleeping over, she'd get double or something. she closed her phone and went back to the bed. "you're not allowed to give up, freya. it's not allowed. i need you. we all need you. tony would be a nervous wreck without you... it'll be okay... i promise." she whispered, looking over at anthony. she wanted so bad to comfort him, but freya needed her more... when things cleared up, she would go make sure tony was alright. she would just have to.
